Where to Go for Halal Food in Korea

Exploring the local gourmet, from the street food to the fine dining, is definitely the most exciting thing to do during travelling. Gaining 1-2 kgs of happy fat after travelling is a must, isn't it?😆

Good news for all the travellers, especially for you who prefer Halal food, from 16 August to 14 October 2018, South Korea is having "2018 Halal Restaurant Week Korea" where you can experience Korean Halal food at more than 130 Halal restaurants around the country!

Hanjeongsik - Korean Set Menu
Hanjeongsik is Korean set menu with steamed rice, soup and 3 to 5 side dishes served together. The complete meal of carbs, meat, grains and vegetables make Hanjeongsik such a very nutritious meal.

Where to go: Maji (Muslim Friendly) Maji is a vegetarian restaurant that focuses on the natural flavors of ingredients without any chemical additives or spices and without green onions, garlic, wild chives, chives, and onions. 
Enjoy a full course of steamed rice wrapped in a lotus leaf, soup, side dishes, specialty pancake, deep fried shiitake, salad, and dessert for only 17,000KRW.

Samgyetang - Ginseng Chicken Soup
Samgyetang is a popular healthy food in Korea that will boost your energy during summer and warm your body during winter. Tender whole chicken stuffed with sticky rice, ginseng and garlic, boiled in rich broth is such a perfect combination.

Where to go: Wonjo Seoul Samgyetang (Pork Free) The restaurant was opened in 1960 and specialized with Samgyetang. Enjoy the hearty Samgyetang with abalone, red ginseng and wild ginseng for 20,000KRW.

Bibimbap - Rice with Mountain Vegetable
Who can resist bibimbap? With colorful vegetables arranged neatly over rice, toped with red chili paste, bibimbap offers a unique eating experience from mixing it evenly and unique rich flavors from all the various ingredients. The most popular bibimbap is created with lovely 5 colors of blue, white, red, black and yellow.

Where to go: Murree Muslim Food (Self Certified) Opened since 2008 serving Halal Korean Food in Korea, Murree focuses on serving real Korean traditional food taste to Muslim visitors. After you savour the 8,000 KRW bibimbap and 15,000KRW bulgogi, you can visit the nearby central Mosque in Iteawoon Seoul.


Dakgalbi - Spicy Stir-fried Chicken
Dakgalbi is a stir fried dish of chewy chicken meat, healthy vegetables and the popular Korean spicy sauce. Once you clean out all the chicken meat from the thick griddle, add rice to the leftover sauce and enjoy yourself a delicious warm fried rice. You can also add ramyeon or extra cheese. It won't hurt!


Where to go: Namisum Kkokko Chuncheon Dakgalbi (Muslim Friendly) You can't miss the restaurant from your visit to Nam-island. They offer both stir-fried spicy chicken (11,000KRW) and charcoal grilled chicken (12,000KRW).

Haemuljjim - Spicy Braised Seafood
Put the prawn, blue crab, clam and octopus to the pot, mix with vegetables, and throw a spoonful of spicy sauce. Voila! you'll taste the fresh ocean flavor from the variety of seafood in one dish.

Where to go: Batnim (Muslim Friendly) Located in Busan, it is inevitable for this restaurant to purchase their seafood directly from local fishermen and cook while it is fresh. They have portion size option of small (35,000KRW) and large (45,000KRW) for the braised seafood. You can also enjoy the fresh sashimi for 50,000KRW.
